A range of structures, free.
Seventy-nine pages on the grammar the speaking test actually rewards.
Most speaking advice tells you to use complex grammar. This tells you which structures, what each one is worth, how it goes wrong, and what to say aloud until it stops feeling like grammar. Written from more than two thousand one-to-one lessons. Yours for an email address, and nothing else.
A range of structures for (but not necessarily limited to) IELTS Speaking
Eleven sections, worked in order, from the structures that hold a Band 6 together to the ones that separate 7 from 8.
- Conditionals, perfect tenses, the passive, relative clauses, modals for speculation, cleft sentences and inversion.
- Each with its rule, its formula, an example, the errors that cost marks, and prompts to say aloud.
- A band-by-band priority guide, so you drill what your target actually needs.
- The scoring model in plain English: four criteria, what each one is listening for.
- A grammatical terms glossary, for when the metalanguage gets in the way.
PDF, 79 pages, A4. Free, and it stays free. Every structure in it can also be drilled on this site, marked instantly.
Send it to me
Enter your email and I will send you the guide. You will get one email to confirm it is you, and the guide is behind the button in it.
One email to confirm, then the guide. Afterwards, occasional notes on IELTS preparation and a word when the book publishes. Unsubscribe in one click, any time.
Would rather hold it? The same guide is a paperback on Amazon → for people who prefer to write in the margins. The PDF above is free whichever you choose.
Kept by me, on Kit, and used for this.
Your email address goes to Kit, the service that sends these emails, and it is used to send you the guide and occasional writing about IELTS preparation. It is not sold, and it is not passed to anyone else. Every email has an unsubscribe link that works immediately. The full detail is in the privacy notice.
The site itself still has no analytics scripts and no advertising trackers, and the practice drills still need no account. Nothing on this site has been put behind a sign-up, and nothing will be.
The guide is the method. A lesson is the marking.
You can apply every structure in the guide on paper and still lose the band under pressure, because you cannot hear your own errors. In a lesson I mark you against the four official criteria while you speak, and you leave with a written report and homework aimed at what actually dropped your score. Lessons are £20 for fifty minutes, one to one, in proper British English, and the first lesson doubles as a full assessment.
